Final Preparations Completed for the 26th Annual Houston Iftar

Houston, TX – Houston’s largest 26th Annual Iftar is set to take place on March 9 at the Bayou City Event Center, with registration opening on February 24 at 6 PM. The event, a significant gathering for the Muslim community, is expected to bring together key leaders, organizations, and community members for an evening of unity and celebration.

The Houston Iftar Organizing Committee convened under the leadership of Coordinator Saeed Sheikh to finalize arrangements and delegate responsibilities among various committees.

The meeting saw participation from Imran Ghazi, President of the Islamic Society of Greater Houston (ISGH); KB Bellern, a representative from the Houston Mayor’s Office; Siraj Narsi, President of the Pakistan Association of Greater Houston (PAGH); Dr. Yasmin Qureshi; Maryam Khan, President of the World Chamber of Commerce; Sehar Khurshid, head of the Lions Club Houston; Mian Nazir; and representatives from GHRA, the Aga Khan Council, and the Sister Cities Association.

It was also announced that Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) has joined as a partner, further strengthening the network of 42+ organizations supporting this year’s event.

Coordinator Saeed Sheikh expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of participating organizations and major donors, including business tycoon Javed Anwar, Tanveer Ahmed, and Dr. Yasmin Qureshi, along with the many volunteers making this grand event possible.

Sameer Khan, head of the Technical Support Committee, highlighted the streamlined and transparent registration process, set to begin on February 24 at 6 PM.

Speaking to the media, ISGH President Imran Ghazi emphasized that this year’s Iftar is a joint effort between ISGH and ICNA, further solidifying the event’s impact on the community.

PAGH President Siraj Narsi called it an honor to be part of the largest Iftar in America, noting its role in promoting the positive image of Islam.

World Food Warehouse, the largest South Asian grocery store in the U.S., has pledged over 2,500 juice bottles for the event. Company representative Mr. Ali urged community members to ensure their participation and register promptly on February 24 at 6 PM.
